It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Kurt Goethel on September 22, 2024, at the age of 42. Kurt was born on December 15, 1981, in Miami, Florida, where he grew up appreciating especially the ocean and the beach. He attended St. Thomas Episcopal Parish School in Coral Gables, FL and Westminster Christian School in Palmetto Bay, FL. For many years, Kurt and the Goethel Family were parishioners at St. Louis Catholic Church in Pinecrest, FL. Like his parents, he enjoyed a great passion for boating, and, after high school, he obtained his captain's license.
An adoring son, loving brother, and cherished uncle, Kurt's life centered around his enduring love for his family, his great warmth, and his deep faith.
He will be remembered with his sharp smile and infectious laugh - and for always being quick to give a bear hug and to tell you he loved you.
Kurt was preceded in joining the Lord by his: father, Richard Karl Goethel; maternal grandparents, Coralie ("Sunny") & Ed Feurtado; and paternal grandparents, Alice & Heini Goethel.
He is survived by his: mother, Ardeth Marie ("Ardie") Goethel; sister and brother-in-law, Amber & Lee Seidlin; niece, Bree Seidlin; and nephew, Ryan Seidlin. He will also be missed by his aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as his friends.
In lieu of flowers, Kurt's family asks that you consider making a donation to Nicklaus Children's Hospital in his memory ( http://www.nicklauschildrens.org ), where he was lovingly treated, as a young child, while he battled leukemia. Most importantly, though, please honor Kurt by consistently remembering to tell your people how much you love them - and to hug and hold them close...just a little bit harder and longer... And please keep his family in your prayers as they navigate this unspeakably tragic loss.
Kurt's funeral service will commence on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:30 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery in Doral.
It can be a great comfort to a grieving person or family to hear that others thought highly of their loved one, too. If you knew and admired Kurt be, sure to let the family know by writing a few words in the "Memory" section of his obituary on the Kraeer - Fairchild Funeral Home website. www.KraeerFairchild.com.
