

He is survived by his wife Nicole (Maingot) Hoch, his sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Catherine, Alex and Kendall, and Andrew and Jenna. Richard held close to his heart and cherished the memory of his son Neal who preceded him. Also surviving are his; grandsons, Hayden, Branden and Camden; his in-laws, Keith and Ann Maingot, and Michele Morrison; and his nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by, his mother Ingeborg Hoch, sister Evelyn, and brother Robert.
Richard was born in Rudeseim/Rein, Germany. As a young man he was honored to serve his country, assigned to the US Navy’s 7th Fleet. He was headquartered in Yokosuka, Japan. After active duty aboard the USS Pollux, he joined the Civil Service in Yokosuka. It was there that he developed his creative skills, working with film and color printing. During his time in Japan, Richard earned the rank of Third-Degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, competing in martial arts tournaments and exhibitions. After eight years overseas and starting his family, his work took him to San Diego and Miami/Fort Lauderdale before accepting a teaching position at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. As the President of Richard Hoch Photography Inc for 41 years, he was admired for his passion, creative vision, and attention to detail. His work relationships were lasting, with many turning into lifelong friendships.
He enjoyed golfing with his buddies and was a founding member of the Trinidad Hackers Tour for 28 years. He loved fishing and being on the ocean, especially in the keys and his favorite islands in the Bahamas. He treasured being on the water and was lucky enough to introduce these adventures to his family, who joined him in creating cherished memories.
As an animal advocate, his furry friends were very important to him. He traveled the Eastern United States competing in dog shows with his Old English Sheep Dogs. Over the years he adopted, loved, and saved many animals of all shapes and sizes.
He loved family time and watching football on weekends. His friendships brought him joy and gave him strength. His faith kept him optimistic and hopeful. The outpouring of support and beautiful words about Richard’s generous heart has comforted his grieving family. We will miss his tight hugs and warm personality.
Richard's funeral service will commence on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 10:00 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, 901 NE 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The family will greet guests at the conclusion of mass. A Celebration of Life will follow.
