It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Bobby V” Louis Vanzan announce he passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 64 on July 3, 2023, with his wife by his side. Robert was born on August 28, 1958, in Queens NY and lived there for 33 years before moving to and settling in Broward County Florida.
Robert worked in the hospitality industry in NY as a Captain at many fine dining establishments and still briefly served patrons when he moved to Florida. It wasn’t long before he was able to fulfill his longtime dream of opening an Antique Store and fill it to the brim as only Bobby V could. From that point until just a month prior to his passing he still enjoyed working with and selling collectibles, his work was truly his passion and hobby all mixed into one.
Robert's only other passion was people, his family first but all kinds of people, especially everyday people, like engaging with wait staff while out eating in restaurants and thanking them for coming to work that day to building an amazing following of lifelong friends while serving his spiritual community.
Robert is survived by his wife Sherri Dasilva, his children Sabrina Gilmer Vanzan, Nadia Vanzan, and Kyle Dasilva, his grandchildren Dino Gilmer, Aidan Gilmer, and Lia Dumelle, and his nephews Jason Finley, Justin Finley, and Darien Mytryshyn.
The family will be holding a service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens located at: 2401 SW 64th Ave. Ft Lauderdale, FL 33317 on July 29, 2023, at 1:00pm.
There will also be a Celebration of Life gathering on September 3, 2023, at Snyder Parks Caldwell Pavilion from 12:00 – 4:00pm. More information to follow next month.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society or have a tree planted in Robert’s name.
