He is also survived by his sisters Sharon Bisgaard of Eagle, Idaho and Margot Miller of Salt Lake City, UT.
He was preceded in death by his sons Jerry and Bragan Walker, his parents Earl and Mary Louise Walker, and his sister Laura Brown.
Bruce was born on October 28, 1941, to parents Mary Louise Sigmon and Earl Walker of El Centro, CA. He graduated from Holtville High School in 1959 where he was a multi-sport athlete. After graduation he attended the Air Force Preparatory School in Bainbridge, Maryland. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he then went on to Brigham Young University where he graduated with a degree in English and a minor in Spanish.
Upon graduation from Brigham Young University, he joined the United States Air Force as an officer and pilot. He flew C-130s during his two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a proud and loyal patriot of the United States of America and retired as a Captain. Following his military service, he married Beverly Brown Walker and they embarked together on a thirty-year career as partners in building the DHL international empire. As Regional Executive Director initially in Southeast Asia and then throughout Latin America, Caribbean and Bermuda, Bruce created a DHL family. His exemplary leadership style and knowledge were so important in the founding of this global empire that he was acknowledged in the published history of the rise of DHL as a small business to a shipping leader. DHL invested in furthering Bruce’s education at Stanford Business School where he took a master’s level business course.
Bruce was an avid golfer, world traveler, baseball player, and thoroughbred owner.
Upon his retirement in 2000, Bruce and Beverly relocated from Coral Springs, FL to Ocala, FL with their thoroughbred horses where they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren. They moved again in 2008 to Hockley, TX where they lived on a small farm in the country for ten years. Their last move was to Davie, FL in 2018 where they settled near family.
Unfortunately, Bruce’s health declined in the last several years and he was lovingly cared for by Beverly who dedicated her life to making him happy and comfortable.
Bruce will be remembered by his many friends and family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He made lasting and meaningful connections with everyone he touched.
