Roger is tremendously missed.  I will never forget shaking your hand the first time.  I thought now I know what shaking a bear's paw feels like. Grin.  You were not only a large man in stature but your spirit was even bigger.  I enjoyed working for you and being under your leadership. My hope is you find peace knowing Roger was liked and respected by all ...I had the pleasure of knowing Roger as a co-worker, fellow foreman  and eventually my manager...he was tough but fair...  I certainly pushed the envelope over the years trying his patience...he only flinched once and I got to see his other side ....believe me... I never pushed that button again ..Losing someone is never easy but knowing Roger the last thing he would want is you unhappy...Stay strong and remember the good times you had.... Rest in Peace Roger you will be missed but never forgotten.

Dear Mrs. Childers,
May you and your family find the Peace of the Lord which surpasses all understanding.  
Roger was a giant man in his impact here at PPO; all these years after his retirement his name is still spoken with amazing frequency and always with the greatest fondness.  We should all accomplish so much.

Roger is missed everyday, I really enjoyed working for him and especially miss his sense of humor. Roger taught me a lot of things about work and about life in general. Miss you buddy. My prayers are with you Melody and stay strong always.

Roger will be greatly missed. I enjoyed working with Roger, he could always put a smile on my face. My prayers are with his family.

Roger was my friend. He was my boss. He was my teacher and mentor. Though we haven't seen each other in years, he will not be forgotten.  He was a lot like Dude, his beloved pit bull. Fearless.

Roger was a great help and guiding hand, when I first hired in the District.  He would always call me in to his office when I visited District and would ask me how things were going in the Zone and what could he do help me.  I appreciated Rogers mentoring and sound advice as I worked through a new system.  I will miss him.

It was a true blessing to work for Roger, he always had a way of making you laugh, even when you wanted to scream.  Melody, I am truly sorry for your loss, you and your family are in my prayers.

You Sir were one of a kind and will be greatly missed. You always treated everybody equally and fairly. It was a pleasure working under you Roger.

Melody, Roger was an inspiration on how to manage a large number of people and maintain one's own sanity. Not sure I every saw the man upset. He would lend an ear and provide advice when requested. He is truly missed now more than ever. May you find peace in knowing he was a pleasure to associate with at work as well as in life. Very sorry for your loss.

I will love you forever but I know you are with the Lord and that is what keeps me going. You told me you will always be there for me and I truly believe that. Thank you for the 43 years we had. I love and miss you.

It was truly an honor working for and knowing Roger. He shared his knowledge, wit, and compassion with his fellow employees on a daily basis. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to have known this man during my working career and his positive impact will always be remembered.

I used to joke with you saying I gave you the best years of my working life, but in reality they were a pleasure and my honor.  Roger, you were one of a kind and will be missed.
