When I remember Ron, these thoughts come to mind.
Ron and Michelle- A team. Co-supporting, truly caring, and loving.
Being “volun-told”😆- As a newcomer scout parent Ron would give me different assignments. I would offer to run one bake sale, he said great! You will run 4! He always challenged but in a way that encouraged growth and as a result, self pride. He saw beyond what the scouts AND parents thought we were capable of. Thank you for that Ron!
Kind, welcoming, encouraging, inclusive- At the first big hike, Ron came up to our son and told him what a great hiker he was and he needed to start training for the big barefoot mailman hike! Our son, Sean, stood a little straighter and walked even faster with purpose. He was new to the troop and these kind and encouraging words went a long way to make him feel like he belonged. For us as parents too who were unsure we could even make it to the end of this 13 (I think) mile hike! I recall Ron and Michelle driving along in a truck and yelling to us what a great job we were doing. Yup, Jim and I stood a little straighter and walked a little faster too!
Ron made a difference in the lives of many and I am grateful that our paths crossed. He will be missed by many. Peace-Kaye and Jim Fee

When I first met Ron, only a few years ago, he called me Sissy. I felt as if I was instanly under his wing and part of his family. We are in-laws, but it was more than that. I feel very lucky to call him part of my family. Much love to all, he is watching over all of us.

My deepest sympathies to Michelle and the rest of the family. Like so many others, Ron was my scoutmaster in Troop 305, and I will always attribute a big part of the person i am today to my experiences in Boy Scouts. Ron was a wonderful person who gave me so many great memories of canoe trips, campouts, pinewood derby races, and too many other things to name. He will be greatly missed by me and so many others beyond his family. 

Ron was a kind and generous man. He was always there to give advice to any agent that needed it. Just a month ago  he went to our Weston office and helped remove some furniture for me and gave me advice as to what to do with our server. He was so caring and always made me feel like I had a place to turn for guidance. I am so grateful to have known him and worked with him. Ron will be greatly missed, but will forever be in our hearts.

I’m so incredibly grateful for my brother in law, Ron.  He was someone who stood tall for what was right, and through his tenacity, filled a life of good deeds.  I will always be grateful for him, for unlocking the door so I could find my sister.  Without him, without his determination to always be on the side of right, I would have never found her and for that I will always remember him as one of the most pivotal people in my life.  I love you Ron.  Our time together was all too short but oh what a powerful a force you were.  All peace and blessings to you on your journey. Love, Sissy 


Dad, Choosing a specific memory is just a bit too challenging for me as I have been struggling through losing you.  Still wanting to share led me to considering some of the most influential conversations we have had and this text you sent me on my last birthday by far had the most positive impact on me.  So rather than sharing a story or memory, i’ll instead share your exact words to me.  I miss and love you pops and will forever cherish this message! When you were little, I used to be your hero, but now you have become mine. I cannot believe how you’ve become such an intelligent, strong, and brave man whom I look up to. I cannot comprehend how you went from being barely able to clutch my fingers to becoming the man you are today. Time has flown by so quickly over the years, but one thing will always remain constant: my limitless love for you.

Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve a son so wonderful as you. But most of the time, I just thank God that he blessed my life and gave it meaning by giving me you.

RJ, one of the real pleasures in my life is being able to say that you are my son. I love you so much and wish you a life that is prosperous, healthy, and filled with all the happiness that you deserve.

No matter how tall, handsome, or famous you become, you will always be the little boy who captured my heart. My love for you is more than I can ever express in words.

My deepest condolences to the Laneve family. 
Ron had a heart of gold, his generosity was never ending, especially when giving of his time and talents.
He would never take no for an answer. There was always a way!
 It’s hard not to think of Ron without Michelle. They made a wonderful team. I often wondered how they were able to take care of their own life, since they spent so much of their time with scouting. 
Ron was a positive role model for so many young men! He may be gone from this earth, but his legacy lives on with the hundreds of those his life has touched over the years. It was a privilege and an honor to have known him. Thank you for all you have done.

Over the last 6 years, I have gotten to know what its like to be part of the LaNeve family. Its hard to pick just one memory that I have of my second dad. Wherever we went, he loved talking about his family to those he met. “This is my wife Michelle, my son Sam, and my daughter in law Lexi.” For 6 years he considered me his daughter and was proud to introduce me as such. He had an incredibly big heart for those that he loved and would go out of his way to make sure everyone was taken care of. I am happy to have so many amazing memories with him. I always loved his visits to Orlando, which included ice cream runs to Twistie Treat and trips to Universal Studios. At Universal, we discovered his favorite ride was Jurassic Park and would watch him stand in the splash zone to get soaked. One year, we all went to Halloween Horror Nights and knowing how easily I get scared, he would poke my back in the haunted houses and get a good laugh watching me freak out. No matter where it was we went, the only thing that he wanted was to spend time with his family. I think my greatest memory of him was seeing the impact he had on Sam. The love and the respect that they had for each other was so strong. He is the reason why Sam is the man he is today and I am so thankful for both of them being in my life. Thank you for accepting me into your family, and for being Sam and Chel's guardian angel.  I love and miss you so much. 

There's much to say about  Ron. Short and sweet he was one of the most  generous and motivational people that one could ever know, or want to know. If you had the pleasure of knowing Ron you're one of the lucky ones that were able to experience his generosity, guidance, thoughtfulness, kindness, and of course  stubbornness that we all loved and made him who he was to us ALL. Ron you will be missed more than you can imagine.

My deepest sympathies to Mrs. LaNeve and the family. A memory of Mr. LaNeve that always comes to my mind is seeing his big smile as he was making spaghetti for the Boy Scouts spaghetti dinner at the Saint Rose carnival. I think often of the wonderful adults God put in my life when I was younger. Mr. LaNeve was one of them. I learned a ton from him and used the lessons he taught me throughout my service in the army and still to this day. I am learning that my time in scouting was not about making great Boy Scouts, although that may have occurred. It was about developing boys into successful and good men. 

Love and deepest sympathies to Ron's family.  Ron was one of the finest persons I have known. He was an outstanding Scout leader. I will always treasure our over 15-plus years of weekly Scouting events. From outdoor activities to endless meetings. There were many memorable events from Cub Scout camping at the Joe Robbie Scout Show to the 10 days at the National Jamboree. Other favorites were summer camp at La-No-Che and Boone; the urban canoe trip from Enchanted Lake to Pelican Harbor; and Babcock-Webb (canoeing and trap shooting in one location!). Ron always looked for new adventures for Scouts which made for some wonderful experiences for me. I will always cherish the big impact he had on my life.


Ron, thank you for being a great father, Scouting volunteer, and great friend. We will all miss you!

I met Ron & Michelle when Sam was just a little guy at Summer Camp at LaNoChe. I looked forward to their visits each summer. It saddens me that such a wonderful man has gone but I know he is in heaven and healthy again. My heart goes out to Michelle, Sam and family. May God comfort you thru this difficult time. I have had so many memories growing up as a scout with Ron all the way to even working at their postal store in Pembroke Pines. Ron and Michelle always looked out for me while I was in Boy Scouts. They always helped where they could, as my mom was a single mother raising two kids at the time. I remember one time, riding in the Green Excursion (I loved that car lol) and we went to Sports Authority to get gifts for Mike and Joey, it was around Christmas time. I remember Ron ended up asking me to pick out a shirt that day, and that was my gift from them for Christmas and that moment meant a lot for me because I didn’t ask for it and I never really asked for much, but they offered. That moment will stick with me forever.

My memory is all the VAR events - oh the fun we had.  And the hospitality you and Michelle showed Joe and I when you opened your home for us.

Ron was a neighbor a coach and a friend to me, my brothers, and the rest of the crew who grew up hanging out with his son Sam. We always found ourselves outside of his  house, shooting hoops or playing football and every time Ron came out he’d always make sure to ask us how our families where and crack a joke at us here and there. From the time we were kids to now, all grown up, Ron was always kind and welcoming to us. And not because we were neighbors but because that was the kind of person he was With everyone. We will always remember the games he coached us in, the Steelers games we’d watch over his house, and the warm welcoming hug he’d give us every time we would see him. I will never forget when Ron helped the entire street put up shutters for the hurricane. He was a tough one.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family at this most difficult of times.
I met you both through our work with the Boy Scout of America, in the education, training, mentoring, and leadership of tomorrow's leaders and adults.  We worked together on many memorable activities.
As you look back on the fun you had as a family, don't overlook the fun you had with your Scout family.
As your tears flow, realize the life lessons and experiences you shared.  And realize how many Scouts and their families he helped shape.
Not a day will go by you don't recall something that will make you smile.  We are bit players in God's plan, and unfortunately, this is his will.
As hard as it is, the pain will ease up in time, but Ron would implore you to go on, move forward, look back when you can, but never give up!

We are so saddened by Ron’s passing.  So unexpected and left us too soon. He was an incredible neighbor. Always willing to lend a helping hand, shared his tools and belongings  and always loved talking  with him over the fence.  He was a true professional and along with the help of his wife Michelle and son Sam found my mom’s retirement home in Delray Beach. He was kind, helpful, and someone when asked would share his experience, knowledge and advice. I’m really gonna miss him 

I was so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. It is amazing to read all of the things Ron accomplished & the amazing family he had. It sounds like he truly lived his life to the fullest which is all any of us could ever hope to do. 

My memories of Ron come from the various meetings at Best Connections Realty. Ron was always so vibrant & so eager to help all of the agents. 

Over the years we kept up with each other on Facebook, Ron would always leave a little comment on a post or wish a Happy Birthday. I will miss seeing that.

Mr. LaNeve, where do I begin!? You were the first to greet me into troop 305. You were the first to congratulate me when I got my Eagle Scout award.  Today, I am now working for United States Courts doing only what a few hundred people do. I contribute most of my success to you! You taught me what it meant to push myself and to be confident in what I am doing. I know you are smiling down on all of us. Thank you for being part of my life and making me the man that  I am today!
