Shallequa “Shelly” Hunt was born on June 30, 1979 in Bronx, New York, to Michael Harper and Andrea Hutton. Shelly was a strong yet kind soul who dedicated her life to helping others. Her love for life made it natural that she pursue a career in healthcare which complemented her servant heart. Shelly touched many lives as a Labor and Delivery nurse and “Super hero” for Baptist and Memorial Hospitals.
Shelly transitioned on March 15, 2022, at the tender age of 42, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Throughout her cancer treatment, Shelly remained jubilant. Her strength was unmatched. Her soul will live on through her loved ones as they continue to honor her legacy and keep her spirit embedded in their hearts.
The simplest pleasures in life bought great joy to Shelly. She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and sunbathing by the sea. Her most priceless pleasure was peace! Shelly "the perfectionist" was always known to get the job done. She was the “rock” of her family.
Shelly is survived by her children Cheyenne and Shane Hunt; her father Michael Harper and mother Andrea Hutton; her bonus mother Ovrill Dwyer; siblings Micaiah, Yeshembeth “Shem”, and Michela Harper; bonus sister Nathania Fagan and bonus brother Jamar Gordon; nephews Immanuel, Shamar, and Taj Harper; nieces Anaiah, Kelis, Zendaya, and Yahirah Harper, and Caliyah “Bebe” Moncrief; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, her extended Baptist family, and her life partner Brian Walker.
Gone too soon, yet we understand why. Our eyes remain swollen as we continue to cry. Although your not in pain anymore as we should understand, we still continue to question God’s plan... Now you are gone and we want you near, we will love you til the end and hold all memories near. My sweet, sweet Shelly and beloved friend we’ll love you on this side until we meet again.
