Surrounded by the comfort of family, Sylvia Murphy, age 82, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025. Born on February 4, 1943, in Binnaway, New South Wales, Australia, Sylvia was the youngest of six children born to Frank and Emily Collins. She is now reunited with her beloved parents and siblings, Vilma, Doreen, Frank, James, and Janice.
A true adventurer, Sylvia’s life carried her across continents. She lived abroad in several countries before settling in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she and her husband, John, built both a successful business and a beautiful life together. Her dedication and tenacity were the cornerstone of their shared success.
Though oceans separated her from her homeland, Sylvia never lost her lilting accent or the pride she carried for Australia. As the leader of the Aussie Kiwi Club of South Florida, she brought people together with warmth and humor, always making others feel at home.
Sylvia’s life was a testament to resilience, a reminder that strength need not be loud, and that courage often lives quietly within the heart. She met each day without fear, embracing life with open arms. May her strength continue to inspire us all to live boldly, lead with compassion and kindness, and face the unknown with grace.
Sylvia is survived by her husband, John, their two children, Sean-Patrick (m.Julie) and Siobhan, and many cherished nieces and nephews, all of whom are forever grateful for the time they shared and the love she freely gave.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Glioblastoma Research Organization or the University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Research Center in Sylvia’s memory.
