Veronica Emily Siegel passed away on April 9th, 2016, at Broward Rehab and Nursing Home Facility, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
Born in 1943 in New York, NY, “Ronnie”, as she was so lovingly nicknamed, always had high spirits and a positive outlook on life. She worked at the Momart Hotel in Miami Beach for a brief time, energizing everyone around her with her kind and charismatic personality. However, she was proud of her role as a stay-at-home mom and was very involved in her children’s lives, both as a volunteer in the nursing office of their elementary school and through her involvement with the Booster Club at North Miami Senior High.
Veronica enjoyed church services, taking her children when they were young. She was also a great cook, and her love for music was unmistakable. She could always remember the words to her favorite songs and by all of her favorite artists, which included Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Frankie Valli, and Barbara Streisand. Friends and family would sit for hours with Veronica singing along with her to the oldies.
In October 2008, Veronica moved to Broward Rehab and quickly became a favorite of the nurses and support personnel at the facility. Veronica would ask to see pictures of everyone’s families and loved conversing with the staff. She found joy in hearing about their families and loved ones and would attend church services at the facility. Veronica was loved by everyone while at Broward Rehab but loved most of all by her good friend and longtime roommate, Elsie, who prayed at the bedside of her dear friend during those final days.
Jack, Veronica’s husband of 52 years, stood by her side through thick and thin and remained loving and loyal to his beautiful wife. They had a marriage that exemplified the meaning of true love. Jack was introduced to Veronica by her late mother, Irene Sanko, in Miami Beach, and the couple quickly became teenage sweethearts. They attended high school together at Beach High. Their favorite song was Al Green’s, “Let’s Stay Together”, which they forever remained.
Veronica is survived by her husband Jack, her son Dean (Marcie) and their two children, Grant 19 and Camile 16, and her daughter Debbie and her two children, Kaylee 20 and Livia Jaylynn 6. Veronica was affectionately called Grandma Ronnie by all four of her grandchildren. Her smile will live on in our hearts and our memories.
The Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens South Funeral Home in Davie, Florida, has been entrusted with arrangements.
