Vincent G Gordon

Vincent was born in Tricy Hill, Coultart Grove to Vernal and Amy Cornish Gordon on August 20, 1923. He was the favorite son of his parents and was loved by all in their district. Vincent was a very smart boy and was taught to read at an early age. When he was 6 he would go with his uncle to the small Baptist church in his district where he would read the Bible for the congregation. After graduating High School he enlisted in the Jamaica Army and was a solder for many years. Later, he worked as a prison warder at the Penitentiary on Tower Street in Kingston, Jamaica. During this time he began taking a course at St. Georges College to further his education. He met and married his first wife Hazel on January 5, 1955. Vincent migrated to the United States where he worked as a security guard before landing a job at Pan American Airlines. Hazel was called to Glory on October 6, 1987 and God blessed him with another wonderful woman, Dorothea. They were married on his birthday, August 20, 1988. Vincent loved the Lord and preached the Gospel with fervor and conviction, while looking forward to his time of departure. He enjoyed bowling and playing board games but his true love was playing dominos; he often traveled long distances to get in a game. He loved people and was loved by many. He will forever be in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Hazel, sister Miriam and three brothers Reford, Roy and Carol.

He is survived by his devoted wife Dorothea, sons Lloyd and Clyde (wife Gempe), daughters Claudette (Jenny) (husband Raymond) and Lorna, grandchildren, Tezana, Sheree, Kesha, Omarr, Lisa, Lawford, Michelle (husband Willie) and Ashley, great-Grandchildren, Deleta, Payton, Aden, Braden, Chelsea, Amarrie, Gianna, Layla and Jada, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be a public viewing on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Forest Lawn South, 2401 Davie Road, Florida 33317 from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Funeral services will be held at Bethel Gospel Chapel, 1444 NW 15th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, January 21, 2023; viewing from 10 AM to 10:45 AM; service begins at 10:50 AM. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn South. Arrangements are by Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens (South).
