Bernice Louise Cathell

Bernice Louise Cathell was born on May 24, in the spring of 1947. She grew up in Hersey, Michigan until her family moved to sunny Fort Myers, Florida. Bernice married Robert Cathell (Bobbie) in the winter of 1965. They had two children, four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Bobbie was in the military and that meant the family traveled all over. Bernice’s favorite destination was Anchorage, AK. Bernice was a strong adventurous woman who never gave up on a fight. In the last couple of years, she fought for her health, but her body grew weary. Bernice went to sleep and woke up walking on the streets of gold this past July 3, 2025. She has a new address now. She will be waiting to see you in Heaven so don’t be late.

Bernice is predeceased by her father and mother, Roy and Pauline Ritzmann, her sisters, Donna French, Wanda Nelson, Catherine Kailing, and Florence Zimmerman, and her son Joey Cathell.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Cathell (Bobbie), her children Sam and Dawn Vega, her grandchildren Justin and Estefania Cathell, Sarah and Reid Dixon, Jared and Ledy Cathell, Samuel C Vega and her great grandchildren Leilani Cathell and Iroh Dixon.

Bernice was a mama bear to everyone she met. She loved her family! All her nieces and nephews were like her own children to her. She was loved and respected by so many. Bernice will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life for Bernice will be announced at a later date.
