Carl Dale Barker Jr.

Carl "Peepaw" Dale Barker Jr., age 67, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025. Born June 13, 1957, in Middletown, Ohio, Carl lived a life defined by love, humility, and quiet strength.

Carl was the embodiment of selflessness and kindness— a hardworking, gentle soul who gave of himself freely. He devoted his life to his family and community, always putting others before himself and offering unwavering support without seeking recognition. His presence was a gift to all who knew him.

He was the cherished son of the late Carl Dale Barker Sr. and Beryl Brown Barker, and he carried their values and warmth throughout his life and spoke of their memory often. He is preceded in death by his brother Randy Barker and brother-in-law Curt Mitchell.

Carl is survived by his former wife, Sherri Helms Barker, with whom he shared two beloved daughters, Genifer Williams [Kristopher] and Amy Stewart [Owen]. He was a proud and loving “Peepaw” to his grandchildren Taylor Reeves, Colton Stewart, Haylee Strickland, and Harlee Stewart, and was joyfully awaiting the arrival of his first great grandchild, Isla Mae Corzo, due in October. He also leaves behind his sisters Sherry Mitchell and Bonnie Gibson [Tim], numerous nieces and nephews and his loving girlfriend who cared for him graciously Katina Sikes Edwards as well as her entire family who adored him. He was a great friend to so many people. To know him was to love him.

A funeral service will be held at Hodges Funeral Home on May 31st, 2025, followed by a celebration of Carl’s life at the home of his daughter and son in law Kris & Genifer Williams. All who wish to honor Carl’s memory are welcome to attend.
