

Charles C. Fields passed away December 3rd peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born April 27, 1933 in Woonsocket, RI to parents Obie & Elizabeth. Charles grew up in in Rhode Island and graduated from St. Andrews School in Barrington, RI where he made a number of lifelong friends. Charles served in the Navy and attended Nasson College in Springvale, ME. In 1954, while working in Hartford, CT. he met Gladys Arnold, and in 1957 they were married. 9 years and 4 children later, Charles relocated his family to Florida (for which they were all very grateful), ultimately settling in Fort Myers in 1973. Charles started working in the door & hardware industry in 1957 as a manufacturers sales rep. In 1973 he was given the opportunity to own his own business. Through hard work and close relationships he was able to establish and enjoy a successful door & hardware distribution business, finally retiring in 2009. In his free time Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, traveling and cruising. As a native New Englander, he was also an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics. Charles is survived by his wife Gladys, sisters Maryann (Michael) and Pat (George), children Brian (Suzanne); David (Pam); Jennifer (Mark); and Steven, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends who will all remember him fondly for his warmth, humor, and generosity. A memorial service will be held Dec. 13th (2:00-4:00) at Hodges Kiser Funeral Home 9231 Cypress Lake Dr. Ft. Myers, FL 33919. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice 9470 Health Park Circle, Ft. Myers, FL 33908.
