Dave is what many knew you by I knew you as grandpa the person that I looked up to and gave me inspiration to succeed. 

You were such a great person during work and outside of work. You gave me great work ethics in life and pushed me further when no one else would. You taught me so much in life from being a nice person to how to work. 

At age 10 I would help you on weekends with your friends lawns you took care of for a very long time and I learned how to cut grass from you. I then went and started my own business and you were so happy and motivated me so well and was so happy I was successful. 

I remember I asked you if you wanted to go to a football game with me it was Miami dolphins vs New York jets and you were so excited to go to your first nfl football game. You had such a great time and had a smile on your face the whole time. You kept saying it gets really loud when everyone cheers. 

Your love for corvettes was beyond this world I remember when I was a kid I used to hide under your green one that you said you drove down from New York and you could never find me till I came out from under it and scared you a little. 

We have so many more memories it’s so hard to see you not here now I’ll never forget who you are and who you helped me become who I am today you are loved and will be loved for many more years to come.

I have a memory of a dance we had at the church . Jimmy had made this amazing cake for the occasion . David had gotten a large piece and someone had remarked that he would never be able to eat it . He had this greatest smile on his face and proved that not only did he eat it all , he really enjoyed it !
There was a church meeting that William , David , and myself were not in , but waiting for people who were in the meeting . I did not know him well then , but he took the time to talk with William and I and the time passed quickly and I learned so much about this kind, wonderful man .

Those of us who knew and loved David listened to many a “David story” and teased him about how much he talked.  We sometimes sent one family member in to rescue another. But the funny thing is that when the whole Weiser clan was together, there were always moments when he sat there quietly.  You could almost feel him taking in his family, just enjoying the moment.  There were many phone calls between Paul and David that were filled with David sharing stories highlighting how proud he was of his kids and grandkids.  

We will all miss those stories going forward but will always keep David in our hearts, whether we’re together or apart.

What can I say about my older brother David?  He was the most generous person I have ever known.  He was always there for his family.  David took care of everybody: his wife, children, grandchildren, in-laws, friends, and customers.  

When we were younger, he always helped me when I needed help.  David eased me into dating by talking me into going on a double date with him and his girlfriend. When living in Rochester, David worked for the State but he had a second job maintaining an apartment complex by their house in Greece, NY.  This job included plowing the apartment parking lot which meant David had a plow on the front of his truck.  So as Marianne and I were fighting a losing battle, shoveling our driveway in the middle of a snowstorm, David appeared to plow our driveway.   And mind you he lived on the other side of town so it wasn’t like this was on his way home.

My brother loved fast cars and got many speeding tickets. While it wasn’t a fast car, he even took the family car to the drag races where he won the first race but lost the second.  In the early 1960s David bought an MGA sports car, which of course, had a stick shift. As special as that car was to him, he actually tried to teach me to drive a stick shift on it.  

We had our normal sibling issues as kids but we grew closer later in life.  I only had one brother and now he’s gone.  I feel like there is a huge whole in my heart.  I will always remember him with so much love.

Uncle David,

I'm riding in your corvette with you. You step on the gas. I'm not nearly as impressed as you had hoped, so you step on the gas even harder. 

When I visit you in 2011, I arrive late, because I take the scenic route down the center of Florida past the orange groves. It’s league night at your bowling alley. 

So I get to the bowling alley in the middle of the series. Everyone's happy to see me, to meet your nephew! The famous nephew who has bowled a 300 game! Many 300 games!!! But… unfortunately... I have bowled  NOT  ONE  300 game.   :-( 

But I’m fresh off a season averaging 205 right after college, and I’m hot that night. We bowl together our one and only time, and I can tell how much you enjoy it. We are together as family in our love of bowling.

I still love bowling and I’ll always love you,

Uncle David,

Every now and then when I was a child (before caller ID and cell phones), I would answer the phone and the voice on the other end would say “Hello, do you know who this is??”  I would pause, but know it could only be the voice of my Uncle David calling from Florida.  Most likely in the winter (I was in NY) ensuring we knew it was “freezing” in FL, so probably 70 degrees.  Or maybe, making sure we got the amazing grapefruit he sent that I would look forward to each year. 

I will always remember your stories.  They were always so detailed and no matter how many times Aunt Nancy would say she already heard it 100 times...you would still tell the story.

Dave,
I cannot express enough the grief that we are all feeling right now. It was a true blessing for me when Julie and Jessica came into my life. I got to marry the absolute love of my life and I had the chance to be a father for the first time and raise a beautiful baby girl and we all became a family. Everything became complete for Julie and me when our Jiana and our Joseph were born. We all had so many happy memories with you, mom, Grandma and Grandpa Gates and John and Duane. Our Christmas mornings, together, when you made potato pancakes and stunk up the whole house LOL to the time you had me help you install that 500 pound flag pole with the electric wires right behind us when we were lifting it up. I was screaming at you so hard, that it still makes me laugh to this day. I also got a kick out of the way mom yelled at you when you were not listening , “DAVID!!!” and the way that, John, would just tell you things, so bluntly, in any situation, where Julie just didn’t have the heart to, and you would just be like, “Oh, Okay.”  And of course us always enjoying the “Blue Label” scotch that you bought me all the time together. One of my favorite trips with our family  was visiting Uncle Paul, Aunt Marianne, Nick, Isa, Jackson and Alex in Rochester NY. It was such a great time and I wish we could have had a chance to see them more. I always appreciated how much you praised me all the time and how you always said that I was going to be the “Chief of Police”someday. You always helped us out, too, with whatever we needed and we always appreciated it. The one thing, now, that could always promise you, is that mom will always be taken care of and loved and I will love and cherish my Julie and our kids for the rest of my life!!! Rest In Peace, Twopa. I will be toasting many single malts for you. Love John.

Dear Twopa, thank you for helping build one of the best humans to walk this earth. Your daughter Julie has blessed not only my life but everyone she comes into contact with. Your driven, hard working characteristics run deep in her blood and your attitude towards others shines through in her loving personality. Luckily enough I got to watch her give those attributions to all your grandchildren and I know they will all carry that with them forever. Thank you for teaching them to work hard for what you want in life and never give up. Thank you for always treating me like I was one of your grandchildren too because lord knows I spent enough time with you and your family to be one. Thank you for never judging the people I love for being exactly who they were destined to be.  Thank you for simply being you.  With all my heart- Tia

Twopa,
 It keeps hitting me at times. The thought of you gone is unimaginable. When something happens that you hadn’t even processed as an outcome actually happens, it’s like you become in denial of it all. Then a thought of you occurs and it’s like the news hits all over again. The worst part was thinking back to this past Christmas and how I left to go back to school without even the thought that it would be my last time hugging you. I thank you for all that you have taught me. I will always remember the only way to know if you like something is to taste it. Also, any bug smaller then me won’t hurt me. Last but definitely not my only favorite is the green stuff at a Chinese restaurant isn’t broccoli but wasabi and that is very eye watering to eat in large quantities. I thank you for all the family trips we got to experience and makes memories on. I know you will always be bragging about your three grandchildren, but just know we miss and love you very much. I hope you have all the John Deere you ever wished to have and the most greenest lawns to mow, with all those friends rather than customers ❤️
