January 30, 1936 - June 28, 2024
Don grew up in Wallkill, NY, and was married to his high school sweetheart, Lorelei Roberts for 13 years.
He has three daughters who are with us today, Terrese, Diane, and Tamela.
Don worked for IBM for 40 years. He was also active in the Ski Patrol in the Adirondacks. It was there he met Nancy Harten whom he married in 1971. During their 53 years together they became avid boaters and RV travelers.
In 2015 the Sloans moved to Shell Point where Don became the Court Rep. for Tellidora.
Don developed a heart for Crossroads Hope Academy, a home for troubled youths who had fallen victim to the foster care system. He was a key link in supporting that ministry financially and with work parties via the Village Church at Shell Point.
It was at Shell Point that Don explored the teaching of the Bible regarding forgiveness, purpose, and peace with God, finding enjoyment in fellowship with fellow believers. He was greatly loved and respected by family and friends.
“You, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the Lord’s people.”
The Bible, Philemon v 7
