Dorothy Heasley Wilson

She was born in East Palestine, Ohio on March 15, 1926. Her mother died when she was a young girl and she and her sister Shirley were raised by her mother’s sisters Dorothy and Esmeralda, who stepped in to help her father after her mother’s death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Sarah Kirtley Heasley, and a sister, Beverly who died at birth.

She was married to the love of her life, Thomas E. Wilson for 69 years, and the two lived most of their married life in the greater Pittsburgh area until they retired to Fort Myers in the early 1990’s. Dorothy worked in the Penn Hills, Pennsylvania school system for many years before retiring.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Thomas; sister, Shirley Heasley of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Jeffrey (Donna) and Mark (Emily); grandchildren, Parker Reed, Kendra Foskey (Trevor), Justin Wilson (Shanna), and Alexander Wilson, and 7 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was a devoted Christian and member of Cypress Lake Presbyterian Church, Ft. Myers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the food pantry at the church, where she volunteered and felt passionately about helping those in need.
