Edmund J. Franey, age 83, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016. Edmund was born in 1933 in Washington, DC the son of the late Edmund, Sr. & Agnes Franey. Ed attended high school at Eastern High and he was also an amateur boxer with the Golden Gloves Boxing Association. Ed was a proprietor of the Gateway Aluminum Co. in Prince George County, MD, and later retired to Lehigh Acres, Florida in 1993.
Ed is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Bickerton Franey; children, Brenda (John) Wozniak, Dennis Franey, Nancy Madison, Brian (Karen) Franey and Eugene (Claudia) Kernan; 6 grandchildren; and brothers, Gerald J. Franey and Leo C. (Marilyn) Franey.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Rd 82, Fort Myers, Florida 33913 on Monday, Oct 24, 2016 from 4:00-6:00pm with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Tuesday, Oct 25, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2514 Lee Blvd, Lehigh Acres, Florida.
