

George (Ken) Ginter was born on September 26, 1920 and was received in his Heavenly home just 99 years later on September 26, 2019. He was resident of Queens, New York City until moving to Florida after retirement in 1983. He was predeceased in his death by his parents John Ginter and Marie (Bach) Ginter, his brother John Ginter, and his son Kenneth Ginter.
Ken attended Grover Cleveland High School in Queens. He enlisted in the United States Merchant Marines serving as Engineer, before and during World War 2. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was employed as an Engineer in the New York Telephone Company and retired from there in 1983.
Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Carmel, New York where he was actively involved in the ministry to handicapped children at Camp Hope and Hope Town Christian School. He traveled to Panama to help establish a camp there, and to Chile to help install a pool for the disabled children there. He maintained the swimming pools at Camp Hope and Camp Joy for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Florence (Scott) Ginter, his daughter Jeannette Mayers and her husband Ron. Four grandchildren, Tara Semansky, Robert Semansky, Roxanne Mayers and Matthew Mayers, and twelve great grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Alva Methodist Church, Alva, Florida, in October. In Leiu of flowers, gifts would be appreciated in his memory to Handi-Vangelism, P.O. Box 122, Akron, Pennsylvania 17501-0122.
