Martha “Isabel” Pichardo, 79, of Lehigh Acres, FL at the home of her daughter Esther and Santiago, went to be with the Lord in peace and in her sleep Saturday, May 14, 2022. She was born July 2, 1942 in Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana.
Martha (affectionately called Isabel by her family), was a wonderful woman of God who sought the Lord and enjoyed worshipping Him. She is loved, missed and will always be cherished by everyone who knew her.
Our mother was born in her beloved Republica Dominicana during a tumultuous time for the Caribbean island nation. By age 3, Isabel’s father, Lorenzo Pichardo, was forced to leave D.R. in search for a better future - temporarily leaving behind his growing family of four children (Rafael, Clara, Bienvenida and Isabel) and his young wife (Faustina Aracena Pichardo). Five years later, the family was reunited in Aruba where Isabel and her siblings grew up learning Dutch, Papiamento and a completely different culture. By age 21, Isabel moved to the United States to pursue the “American Dream”. Once here, she added the English language and the American culture to her accomplishments and became a proud American Citizen in 1973.
Isabel was resourceful, responsible and hard working. She was a faithful wife, and throughout the years became a widow. She is a loving mother to 3 beautiful daughters, kept a 9 - 5 as a professional Hospital Housekeeper, and was a successful landlord throughout the years. She also dedicated time to surround herself and her family with a holistic and healthy lifestyle—which she freely shared with many.
Isabel loved and is survived by her 3 lovely daughters (eldest to youngest); Carmen Milagros Ramirez Pichardo, Sandra Elizabeth Ramirez and Esther M. Ramirez-Bautista Trejo and (Esther‘s spouse Santiago Bautista Trejo); 10 amazing grandchildren who affectionately called her “mami” (alphabetically listed); Elvys, Joshua, Juan, Maria, Medalian, Samuel, Sarah, Vanessa, Yalli, Yesenia; 5 great grandchildren and her siblings (eldest to youngest); Clara, Bienvenida, Viola, Danilo and Gabriel.
Our mother was passionate about her Creator, her family, the beach, great cooking, living healthy and her beloved Republica Dominicana where she longed to move back to one day.
She fought the good fight and won because she made it to the Throne of the Almighty—as she peacefully fell asleep for the last time on this earth. We will see you soon Mami!
With love that never ends, your daughters
