Jennifer is predeceased by her parents, William and Ethelyn Luft; her daughter, Melinda Sue McCarty and her brother, Roger Luft.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Ronald McCarty, her 3 sons and their wives, John, "Favorite" Andy (Maria) and Sean (Colleen) McCarty, and her 5 grandchildren Andrew, Kate, Shane, Nathan, and Jonathan; and her siblings Anita Flanagan, John Luft, William (Bill) Luft, Dan Luft, and Liz Sorkin.
Jennifer was a Christian and longtime member of McGregor Baptist Church. She was a lifetime Cleveland Browns fan, avid shopper, foodie, outdoor water sports enthusiast, and a premier realtor for over 41 years in SWFL. She was beloved by her co-workers and clients, and was showing property up until the end!.
Until the age of 72 years, Jennifer planned and actively participated in the “Annual Florida Key’s Lobstering Pilgrimage” in Marathon FL. Most importantly, spending time with family was everything to her and for family gatherings she was fashionably late, but often last to leave. She was funny, courageous, made friends everywhere she went, loved to laugh, share stories, entertain, and was the life of party. She was the peacemaker, gave wise counsel (warranted or not), always empathetic of others, and a giver to those in need. She was a good listener and a compassionate shoulder to lean on. She never held a grudge, and was quick to forgive and forget. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend who never met a stranger, and of all things our matriarch. She was as loyal as they come, and someone you wanted on your side. She had an unwavering Christian faith and held true to her values, beliefs, and traditions. Making memories and traveling domestically and internationally was her passion, she was constantly on the go and always planning the next big adventure. She was hopeful the Cleveland Browns would make it to the big dance, win the super bowl, and no longer have to say the phrase “Well, we always have next year.” Perhaps, there’s a chance with a little help from Mom cheering them on from Heaven. She was fearless, quick witted, always up for a challenge, and fast on her feet. You always knew where you stood with her – right, wrong, indifferent.
With her being an avid shopper we sincerely send our condolences to Publix, Costco, Dillard’s, thrift stores, and all the cruise lines, as she kept them all in business.
A visitation for Jennifer will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park, 12777 State Road 82, Fort Myers, FL 33913. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm followed by interment in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
