He served in the US Army and retired from the NYPD in 1975. He is predeceased by his son Jerry (1985) and brother Mickey (2010). He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marilyn Hannon; children, Joseph, Jr. (Lorraine), Marilyn (Frank), James (Cynthia), Kenneth (Connie), Debi (Joe), Michael (Ruth), Janine (Bob); 18 Grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; brother, Gerard; sister, Mildred; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Lee Memorial Park 12777 State Road 82 Ft. Myers, FL on Monday June 4, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9PM. A mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 11:00AM . Interment will be at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery.
