Josephine Ann Stelmacki

Jo Stelmacki, 94, of Fort Myers, Florida formerly of Fort Myers Beach and the St. Louis, Missouri bi-state area, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Shell Point Hospice in Fort Myers.

Born September 5, 1925 the daughter of Anthony and Mary Twardowski of East St. Louis, Illinois. Jo was the oldest of the four sisters, Dorothy Clark deceased, Virginia Field of Naples, Florida, and Mary Lou (Urban) Castiller deceased.

Married 58 years to Henry (Hank) E. Stelmacki. Jo was a great homemaker while her husband Henry operated along with his brother a family grocery store Stelmacki’s Market in St. Louis, MO. They retired to Fort Myers Beach in 1987.

She loved to host family get togethers at their home in St. Louis, Missouri and spend time with her family at the beach condo often going on other family outings and vacations with them all over the US even traveling to Mexico and the Grand Cayman Islands. She also enjoyed playing bingo and Thursday night dinners with her son since her spouse passed away. Feisty at times she was generous to her family well loved and cared for.

She is preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Mary Twardowski, her husband Henry (Hank) E. Stelmacki 2006, her sister Mary Lou (Urban)Castiller 2006 , her sister Dorothy Clark 2009 and nephew Vincent Urban 2016.

She is survived by, her daughter Barbara (Joe) Wolf of St. Louis, Missouri, her son Sonny (Karen) Stelmacki of Fort Myers, Florida, four grandchildren, Jason (Lauren) Stelmacki of Del Ray Beach Florida, Maribeth (Dan) Snodgrass of St. Louis, Missouri, Blake (Sara) Stelmacki of Tequesta, Florida, and Karen Ann(Zach) Schmitt of Atlanta, Georgia, and seven great grandchildren : Samantha and Patrick Snodgrass, Jordan, Kinzie and Jackson Stelmacki, and Wyatt and Logan Schmitt and many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

There will be a celebration of life mass celebrated at St. Columbkille Catholic Church 12171 Iona Road Fort Myers, Florida 33908 on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11 am.

Interment will be with her husband Henry E. Stelmacki in Florida National Cemetery Bushnell, Florida 33513
