

Larry Douglas West of Fort Myers, Florida passed away suddenly on February 18, 2021 in his home at the age of 61, after being diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in 2018. He was born July 9th, 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and he was welcomed with open arms to his parents, Nina (Davis) West and Ernest West of Dewey, Oklahoma.
Larry graduated Dewey High School in 1977. He began his short oilfield career working as a ‘roustabout’ checking wells for his uncle, before transitioning to McPhale Drilling Company in Dewey, Oklahoma to work on a drilling unit. In the early 80’s, he found his love for locksmithing when he began working for Bob’s Locksmith company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and later at Holder’s Locksmith in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In the mid-80’s Larry made his move to Fort Myers, Florida and managed a locksmith company until he started his own business, Beach Locksmith of Fort Myer, Florida, where he enjoyed working and helping others in their time of need.
Larry was a “jack of all trades” earning certificates in knife sharping, culinary arts, and message therapy just to name a few. He owned Perky’s Pizza for a couple of years and enjoyed cooking, day trading, games, marbles, a wide variety of music, the newest gadgets, water running, golfing, being the best tour guide for family, and trips back to Oklahoma to visit family and friends. He was also a member of the Caloosa Riders Bicycling Club, he loved cycling so much that he had a specialty bike made just for him, that he would bring along in his work van. Larry will be dearly missed by his family members and beloved friends.
Larry was proceeded in death by his mother and father Ernest and Nina West.
He is survived by his loving family members, brother Kevin West of Tyro, sister-in-law Joy West of Caney, nephew Kolt West and wife Baylie, niece Kayli West of Caney, great-niece Breley West and great-nephew Kolemyn West.
A meet and greet will be held in honor of Larry D. West on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Wesleyan Church located on 8400 Beacon Boulevard in Fort Myers. Come, share stories and meet with the family.
