Born in Syracuse, New York to John and Margaret Sims. She moved to the Cleveland, Ohio area around age six, growing up in Bay Village. She graduated from Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio in 1950 with a degree in Education(Grades K-8), teaching in the Cleveland area before she met her husband, Robert Gibbs Lincoln, in 1954. Marrying him shortly after, they resided in Medina, Ohio, where sons Tad and Tye were born. Robert and Marje moved to Ft. Myers in 1958, and started Bob Lincoln Oldsmobile in downtown Ft. Myers. They built a home in The Villas subdivision in south Ft Myers, had three daughters, Tami, Helen, and Traci. Marje raised her children there, living there for 55 years. When Robert passed, she took over running the family business, and then built the new Marje Lincoln Oldsmobile Dealership, becoming the first female automobile dealership owner in Florida. During this time she married William Luce, a loving husband, friend, and grandfather. She retired after selling the 35 year old family automobile business in 1993. Afterwards she enjoyed many travels throughout the world, in the United States, and visiting her children and grandchildren.
Marje was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Covenant Presbyterian Church, and most recently New Hope Presbyterian in Fort Myers. Serving as an elder and a Stephens Minister. She was active in Girl Scouts, serving as a leader for her daughters and granddaughters when they were old enough to be in scouts, eventually serving as Vice President of the board for many years before becoming President for 4 years, of the Gulf Coast Girl Scout Council. She served on the Visiting Nurse Association for 20 years, rising to Board President. Marje wholeheartedly enjoyed the challenge of rearing her children, the fun of their activities and cheering them on at sporting events. Avid reader, collector of ALL things, loved African Violets, tea parties, and entertaining family and friends.
Marjorie is survived by her son Tye Robert (Shelly) Lincoln, daughters Helen (Tim) Turner, Traci Lincoln-Artman, step daughters Kim Lincoln (Mark) Nicholas, Carrie Luce (John) Pike, Marrie (Steve) Luce-Barton, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, sisters Merle Zelenak and Marlene (Don) Smith. Predeceased by husbands Robert Lincoln, William Luce, son Tad Lincoln, and daughter Tami Lincoln Walker (Allen) Corkhill (Jeff), parents John and Margaret Sims.
Service will be held March 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM, New Hope Presbyterian Church,
10051 Plantation Rd., Ft. Myers.
Interment Spring Grove Cemetery, Medina, Ohio. Date TBA
