Margie was an amazing woman who grew up in the small town on Robinson, IL after her birth in 1946, to John G. and Ellen Moore, and big brother Jerry Moore. At the age of 2, she was crippled by the Polio epidemic and confined to an iron lung, followed by a decade of polio clinic visits and braces from her waist to the sides of her feet. The results of this epidemic did not hold her down. When medical science could not help her she went to dancing school with the neighbor and family friend June Jones and soon wastap dancing and later she became a dancer / toe ballerina.
At one point, after a divorce from her first husband, Margie lost a little baby girl child that she loved so very much. She never got over that loss and we all feel she will meet her little one in heaven.
She went to work at 10 as a baby sitter; later working as a carhop at the drive-in; a factory worker at Robinson Electronics; and later Victor Dana Corporation. She met her late husband while working there. They had a wonderfully exciting life travelling together and planning their dream home in Florida. They shared many trips and adventures with the children and the eldest grandchild Cole. Unfortunately, the life and home they planned together was put aside when Chuck was diagnosed with cancer. Their adventures turned to trying every thing available to save Chuck, but the outcome was just a bit more complicated and Chuck succumbed to the disease on September 9, 1998.
At his time of death, they had completed their home design; found a perfect place to build and moved to Florida where Chuck received his care. They talked about it and determined that the house would be built, as it was under Margie's design skills. She became friends with the contractor who admired her talents, but they always knew not to anger her because she was a little but mighty!
We will all miss her and we have to say thank you to her Home IN Stead Caregivers; our family as well as Tidewell Hospice for being by her side throughout this very difficult journey. And importantly her childhood friends in the class of 1964 at Robinson, IL High School for the calls, cards, letters, bouquets that they showered her with over her lifetime and her final years on this earth. To fond and friendly neighbors, and friends in Punta Gorda for the joy of your presence.
Margie passed peacefully at home with Cathie, Gerri Lyn, Kimberly, Heather, Karin and family friend Lynn Hatten by her side.
May Margie be dancing in heaven with Chuck and the hundreds of family who were there to welcome her.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to Tidewell Hospice of Port Charlotte, 1144 Veronica St., Port Charlotte, FL 33952
