Mary Daurine McJoynt

Mary Daurine Plante, daughter of Marian Cotton Plante and Leon Plante of Hayward, WI, was born Christmas day, December 25th, 1934 in Ladysmith, WI. She drifted off to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, November 23rd, 2017 at Shell Point Village, Fort Myers, Florida.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse with a BS degree in Physical Education and taught grades 1 through 12 in several cities in Wisconsin. Mary married David Lee McJoynt June 8th, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward, Wisconsin.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Dave; 2 brothers, Donald (Linda) in Hayward, WI and Dennis (Katie) of Neenah, WI; 2 sisters, Margaret Bussen (Dave) of Roseburg, OR and Vicky Kamps (Tim) of Richmond, IN; 5 children, David Thomas McJoynt of Charlotte, NC, Michael Patrick McJoynt (Terre) of Rochester, MN, Jane Marie Scanlon of Charlotte, NC, Sally Ann Pillsbury (George) of Lyons, CO and Kelly Leo McJoynt (Pam) of Colorado Springs, CO and 9 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, James and Ken.

Dave and Mary spent 33 years in Owensboro, KY where she was a secretary at Dave’s machine and tool business. They retired to Shell Point Village, Fort Myers, in 2006.

Music was a major part of her life. She played tenor saxophone with the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse Marching Band and several other bands throughout her life. Mary enjoyed playing competitive golf, winning tournaments in Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky and Florida. She and her husband, Dave, spent the summers enjoying golf and fishing in Hayward, Wisconsin.

Mary was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Fort Myers where she was a Eucharistic minister. She also occasionally attended the Village Church at Shell Point Village. A celebration of her life will be held at the Village Church on Friday, December 1st at 2:15 PM.

There will be a Mass of Remembrance celebrated in June of 2018 in Hayward, Wisconsin
