Olga Maria Ibanez

Olga M. Ibanez passed peacefully at home in Fort Myers FL Tuesday June 10, 2025. Born in San German PR on August 5, 1938, to Maria Epifania Acevedo-Colon and Cesar Gregory-Jimenez, she graduated from George Washington H.S. in NYC, helped support her sister and mother as a secretary, and married the love of her life, Jorge Ibanez-Delgado. After time in Georgia and Louisiana, they raised their daughters in the Hudson Valley. This is where Olga received her master’s degree from S.U.N.Y New Paltz and enjoyed a 27 year career teaching bilingual kindergarten in Newburgh, retiring in 2009. Olga loved to travel, from organized tours and cruises or RV trips cross-country with Jorge. Her holiday parties were legendary, and she never lacked a partner on the dance floor. She was predeceased by her husband Jorge; her mother Maria Epifania; her father Cesar; and her sister Wilda Gregory. Olga is survived by her daughters Kristina and Stefanie; grandson Michael (Kaitlin) Horowitz; sister Ivia Gregory, and many nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, there will be no funeral, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to teachers through DonorsChoose.org are encouraged.
