Rob passed away on July 16, 2024 after a year-long fight with cancer. He was a true warrior, enduring several treatment changes and fighting right up to his very last day. He was surrounded by his wife (Susan) and daughters (Stephanie and Kelly Ann) in his last moments and had an opportunity to say his goodbyes to them that morning as he knew his time was short.
In addition to his wife and children, Rob is survived by nine brothers and sisters, Dawn (John) Nyikos, Doug (Margaret) Graff, Tim Graff, Steve (Michelle) Graff, John Graff, Abigail (Bob) Johnston, Susanna (Jim) Legner, Esther (Dave) Graff-Terry, and Ben Graff; his Uncle Bob Jessup, Aunt Norma Baugher and Aunt Jackie Lantz; his mother-in-law Janet Roth; his sister-in-law Nancy (Gary) January; and his brother-in-law Ron Roth. He had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.
Rob will be greatly missed by his family, close friends and so many acquaintances. He touched the lives of so many people. He was kind, generous, intelligent, compassionate, honest, and always ready to help anyone in need.
Rob enjoyed traveling and exploring, meeting new people and experiencing new things. He had many opportunities to see the world while living overseas when he was serving in the Marines and in his first job after his service. After raising a family, he felt a strong desire to retire early and explore the USA in an RV full time while he was able to do that. He managed to convince his wife to take this leap of faith, and she is eternally grateful for that time and the adventures they were able to share. It all makes sense now!
Rob loved nature and wildlife, and he loved capturing it and presenting it in his photography. His work was greatly appreciated by so many and he loved to share it with others.
Throughout this difficult year, as Rob was truly suffering almost non-stop through so many twists and turns, he still expressed how blessed he was for the life he had and the goodness of God. Although he was sad to leave this earth and his loved ones so soon, he was looking forward to his entry into true paradise, where he will “fulfill dreams wilder than can be imagined” (his words!). He followed God’s lead his whole life and leaves a legacy of faith to his family that is priceless.
A memorial service will be held at some point in Fort Myers, Florida once his close seasonal friends return to the area.
Rest in peace, good and faithful servant!
