Sonya Etta Reardon Mulvihill, "Sunny", was born on January 27, 1940 in Atlantic City, NJ. The nickname Sunny turned out to be very appropriate because she had such a sunny disposition. She grew up with her parents Wilton and 'Brownie' as well as her older brother Dan and younger sister Carol. During her childhood she was an avid dancer who performed on Steel Peer in Tony Grant's "Stars of Tomorrow" with famous stars of the 1950's. During her teenage years Sunny was a cheerleader and very popular among her peers. Following high school, she married Frank Mulvihill and became a mother of three children, Valerie, Frank (Hank), and Maureen. The family moved first to Long Island in the mid-1960's where they raised their family. During her early 50's, Sunny was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease, Dermatomyositis, which led to she and Frank moving to Florida where the climate made her much more comfortable. She enjoyed sitting on her lenai, beside the pool, doing crossword puzzles or reading. In 2003 Frank passed away unexpectadly, and Sunny remained in Florida where she was well cared for by her son Frank and his wife Barbara and grandaughter Samantha, her sister and brother in law Pat and Gene Rooney, and her dear friend Emily Warren. She also enjoyed visits from her other children who still resided up north, as well as all of her grandchildren- Brielle Mitchell, and Ryan, Danielle, Sean, Brendan, Christina, and Caitlin Craig, and her sons in law Neil Mitchell and Kevin Craig. Although she will be missed, there is great relief in knowing that Sunny is no longer suffering the pains of her illness.
