

Wilba Cribbet Sisson, 99, of Fort Myers, passed away April 9, 2016, at her residence. She was born Sept 29, 1916, in Findlay, IL. Wilba was raised in a farming family near Bethany, IL. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Home Economics.
Wilba had been a long time resident of Pekin, IL, where she taught in the Pekin School System for 19 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pekin, IL, the Philanthropic Educational Organization, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and was a past president of the Ex Executives. Wilba moved to Cape Coral in 1974, and then to Fort Myers in 1988. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church of Cape Coral, founding member of the Cape Coral Hospital Auxiliary and a past member of the Ladies of the Elks in Cape Coral.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Wilba is survived by two sons, Alan Sisson, MD and his wife Anne, of Bloomingdale, IL.; their daughter Karen Sisson of Urbandale, IA; and Rob Sisson of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Robert Doyle Sisson, four brothers, and one sister.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 13th from 6 – 8 PM at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Dr., Fort Myers. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 14th at 2:00 PM at Faith Presbyterian Church, 4544 Coronado Pkwy, Cape Coral. Donations in lieu of flowers should be to the American Heart Associaton.
