William B. Akerly, B.S., D.D.S., M.S. was professor and Chairman of the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Mississippi School of Dentistry.
Dr. Akerly is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. He holds a D.D.S. degree from Northwestern University Dental School and a Master of Science degree is prosthodontics at Lackland Air Force Base Medical Center where he was co-coordinator of the prosthodontic residency program. He retired in the rank of Colonel and was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptional service. He has authored numerous articles and has contributed to several textbooks. Dr. Akerly has given numerous continuing education and live television courses on restorative dentistry. He has lectured in the United States, Mexico, Europe, and the Far East.
