

He was born in Bronx, NY to loving parents William L. and Irene A. Gilday, on January 30, 1926. He was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament High School, Manhattan College, Class of 1948, with a BBA and while there he was a member in the Guard of Honor, Commerce Club, and National Federation of Catholic College Students, among others. He enlisted in the United States Navy serving his country as a pilot during WWII. A successful businessman, he retired from Kraft Foods in NY after a long career where he and his wife traveled the world. His was an avid golfer, traveler, and his love for animals lives on in his daughters.
He was a widower, married to and preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty years, Constance E. Gilday, in 1998. He is survived by his daughters Sharon Gilday-Militello (Sal Militello), Hendersonville, NC; Nancy G. Creel (Wes Creel), Potomac, MD; four beautiful granddaughters, Jessie Creel (Matt Rubinoff), Katie Creel, (Tyson Schritter), Torrie Creel, and Mary Creel. He leaves behind a brother, Dr. Robert F. Gilday, a sister in law, Helen M. Colloton, a childhood friend, Joseph Scordato, nieces and nephews, as well as predeceased by two grandsons, Brian and Todd.
We will celebrate the life and times for our Dad at a later date at a Memorial Service for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the American Cancer Society in his honor.
