Ervin enjoyed travelling with his wife, family and friends. He enjoyed taking cruises and seeing the world with his wife, Melva. Was an avid coin and stamp collector, and was a member of numerous stamp and coin clubs. Ervin also enjoyed Bethlehem, Pa Musikfest for many years and Oktoberfest in Milwaukee, Wi.
Ervin loved classical music, musicals, and plays, crossword puzzles, any card game, but especially a good game of Bridge, as well as jigsaw puzzles or a game of Yahtzee, on the beach, at Ocean City, Md. And he enjoyed his Maryland steamed Chesapeake Bay Blue Crabs. He had a zest for singing and enjoyed singing in the choir at his Church. He was quite the ballroom dancer with his wife, Melva.
Ervin was always active in his Church, where ever he was residing at the time, mainly First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem, Pa. and Michigan City, In. Then upon retiring, at the All Villages Presbyterian Church in Port St. Lucie, Fl. Ervin held many positions in the Church from Elder, Trustee, Sunday school teacher, and the list goes on and on. He often chose service and deeds of kindness over words, and was known in his latter years to give a small wooden cross to all those who asked about the cross he wore. It was another way he shared with others how important Jesus Christ was to him.
Ervin was an insatiable reader and you could always find a book in his hand. He loved History, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, the Civil War, and the Three Stooges.
Ervin volunteered for years after retiring as a Census collector, and for 18 years was an AARP tax consultant. Aiding and assisting members in doing their taxes free of charge.
Ervin always enjoyed a challenge, yet was always a team player. He delegated, yet also appreciated and acknowledged hard work and achievement.
Mostly, Ervin was a humble servant of the Lord, which gave him all his loving characteristics that all who encountered him found to be: Personable, Lovable, Forgiving, and Fair. He will be greatly missed by all here on Earth, and most assuredly was welcomed with open arms by the Father upon his crossing into eternity.
