

Irene was born, January 14th, 1924 in Weirton West Virginia, the daughter of Theodora and Louis Chaldares. On June 27, 1948 she married Christo James Crist and they had four children. After moving to Florida they began Crist Construction. Together they became one of the original founding families of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Fort Pierce, building the sanctuary in 1961. Soon after, Christo passed away, leaving Irene to raise their 4 children. She continued in the construction business successfully and became a prominent female business woman in the Fort Pierce area, a member of the Florida Realtors Association and Director of American Pioneer Bank. Irene served on the Board of the Salvation Army and the Red Cross and was President and an active member of the Saint Nicholas Philoptochos Society (Friends of the Poor) throughout her life. Of all of her accomplishments, Irene was most proud of raising and educating her four children. Irene was best known for her beautiful smile which she wore until her last day.
Irene is survived by her children, Dr. Virginia Crist of Boca Raton, FL, Doris Menexis of Jupiter, FL and husband Mike, Denise Alman of Boca Raton, FL and husband Steven, and Jim Crist of Fort Pierce, FL and wife Linda. Her seven grandchildren are Christina Christakis and husband George, Jennifer Lipofsky and husband Steve, Stephanie, Ashley and Ryan Alman, Anthony and Nicole Crist, and two great grandchildren, John Christakis and Emma Lipofsky.
A funeral service will be held at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2525 South 25th Street, Fort Pierce, FL on Saturday, February 25th

Service: 1:30pm
