City, FL, her home for over 35 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on
January 23, 2020, at Baptist Medical Center Nassau in Fernandina Beach, FL.
Jean’s faith was paramount in her life. She was a graduate of Zion Bible Institute in Providence, Rhode
Island. Her desire to become a Missionary to China upon graduation was thwarted when China closed
its doors to them. She became very active in her church, played the piano, taught Sunday School and
continued to serve her Lord each and every day. Jean will be remembered most for her unconditional
loving, caring heart, her willingness to help anyone in need and her humbleness. She never looked for
or wanted recognition. The loss of Jean has left a void in those who knew her. Her legacy and beautiful
memories will live on through her family and friends.
Jean was born in East Fishkill, New York, daughter of the late Eli and Susan Emma Sprague. She is
predeceased by her husband, Kattar “Kay” Samuel Ameen, her son David Kay Ameen, both of Palm City,
FL, as well as her parents, brother Clesson Sprague (Elma), and sister Mabel Smith (Watson), all of NY.
She is survived by her niece, Shirley Ann Smith, two nephews, Roger Sprague and Gerald Smith (Betty
Lou) and numerous other family members. Mrs. Ameen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Kattar, and son, David, on Saturday, February 1,
2020, at 2:30PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
Local arrangements are entrusted to Aycock Funeral Home, Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.
