

Jennie Runnels, 80, died March 14, 2013, at the Vero Beach VNA Hospice House. She was born in Coker, Alabama, but lived most of her early life in Columbus, Mississippi. She and her husband, Jim, moved to Florida in June of 1970, first to Key West, then to Lakeland, and finally to Vero Beach in 1985. Jennie was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach, where she was active in Sunday School and other church activities. Jennie was a treasurer for the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She also was an avid instructor and participant in Round dancing.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jim, daughter; Pat of Vero Beach, FL, sons; Rick Runnels of Evans, GA, Dave Runnels of Orlando, FL, Mike Runnels of Vero Beach, FL, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Columbus Roy Hollis, Sr., and Maudie McManus Hollis. Jennie had four brothers and four sisters of which two sisters, Millie Sartain and Mary Frances Broome, live in Philadelphia, PA., and Memphis, TN., respectively.
Memorial Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Vero Beach, FL at 9am on Tuesday, March 19, 2013.
