Don and I lived in the same neighborhood--Glenrosa district of Westbank B.C. His daughter Jen and my daughter Kristi started kindergarten together. My partner Richard Stearns and I did contract  surveying for his company Pacific Rim Accident Investigation where we would produce an autocad produced drawing of a detailed survey which Don could present his case to the judge. To avoid the red tape involved in stopping traffic to get the job done we would play in the traffic crack of dawn Sunday mornings with Don supervising every detail pertinent to his investigation. You had to step lively to say the least and it gave lots of feed for jawing over past jobs over the endless coffee cup! RIP Don, a real friend, neighbor, work partner, and all around heck of a guy.

Just this very day learned of Don’s passing. My sincere condolences to his family. My memories of Don go a long way back to the early seventies…we crossed paths many times and shared a passion for the sciences of investigations.  We also shared a passion for the occasional brew on our down time. A leader, a motivator and a hell of a nice guy to have as a friend. See you on the other side buddy…your turn to buy. I first met Don at the initial Technical Accident Investigation Course he coordinated at the Canadian Police College in 1982. His passion and willingness to pass on his knowledge freely inspired me to continue in the career of accident reconstruction for my entire Police career and continuing for over 25 years after my retirement.  Don and his group formed CATAIR, to which I was the 20th member to join, and I have been honored to have been elected as the President of CATAIR for the past 26 years, following in Don’s footsteps as the initial President, and doing my best to honor the standards he set and the vision he had for our group.  During our vacations into British Columbia, it was always a highlight of my trip to meet with Don and share some good times each year. I will cherish those visits forever.  Don and his hearty laugh will be missed and remembered forever.

My brother was my Hero all my life...to me, he was bigger than life in so many ways. He was a true legend in his lifetime with so many successes both in law enforcement & in his business. He was so well liked & respected by his peers. I have so many memories of him as a teenager & going off to join the RCMP... I'll see you again dear brother...love Nan...💔

Don was a legend in the world of motor vehicle collision reconstruction.  After coordinating the technical collision course for several years at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa, he and some like-minded colleagues formed CATAIR (the Canadian Association of Technical Accident Investigators and Reconstructionists).  This group continues to thrive, with members not only in Canada but from around the world.  I was honoured to be invited by Don to be on the original board of directors.  It will come as no surprise that he was an entertaining and capable leader.  In 2019, he travelled all the way to Nova Scotia to attend what turned out to be his last annual meeting.  It was such a pleasure to see him again.  RIP Don.  You can be proud of all you accomplished!

I Remember  the first time I saw him as we stood to attention and he was inspecting us  to make sure we were properly turned out in our uniform he looked  like he was all business in his large handle bar moustache!   But once you got to know him he was all gentleman

Don was our troop supervisor when I went through Depot in 1973 and a wonderful guy.  We got him a Dunhill lighter at graduation to show our appreciation and had it engraved with his name…….spelled wrong……..RIP Don.

My heart goes out to Don’s family.  He was one of a kind and will truly be missed.  I worked with him at the Fort Qu’Appelle Detachment, he was kind, funny, hard working, brilliant and a little stubborn!  He filled me in on where he kept his secret stash of cookies and he knew when I came into his office with a sheepish grin that I was in need of an Arrowroot!   Rest easy my friend 💔

Don was such a wonderful man.  I had the pleasure of being trained by him before he retired the last time from the RCMP.  Here is a picture of him holding my youngest daughter at work when we met up one day approximately 5 years ago.  He will be deeply missed by all of us hereditary !
