Keith Brunskill, 63, aka ‘Big Guy’ and ‘Big Daddy K’, lifelong resident of Pense, died August 08, 2012 with his family at his side. Predeceased by his parents Ev and Wes Brunskill; he is survived by his wife, Donna and his two daughters, Maren (Coulson) Beaton and Lindsay (Ryan) Dusselier and special granddaughter Sammy; brothers Glen (Darlene) and Brian (Karen Frandsen); his nephews Scott (Carmen), Jared (Brittany), Chad and Luke (Dayna Wilkens), and their children; as well as numerous cousins and relatives. Keith attended public school in Pense, completed his high school at Thom Collegiate, and attended Simon Fraser University on a football scholarship. Following completion of his degree, Keith returned to Regina where he worked with Social Services while farming with his father and Uncle Doug Brunskill. In 1979, Keith became a full time farmer on the Brunskill land. Throughout the district, Keith was known as a master farmer who loved the land and comradeship of farming and community. “It’s not worth doing if it’s not done right” was Keith’s mantra. Active in his community, Keith’s legacy project, together with his colleagues, was the Pense Rink. Special times with family and friends were plentiful at their cottage home at Lake Katepwa.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 12th at 2:00 PM at Knox-Metropolitan United Church, 2340 Victoria Avenue, Regina with the Rev. Bob Kitchen presiding. A private family interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Keith’s memory to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic or Habitat for Humanity.
