Dora was born in Timmins, Ontario where she lived most of her young and adult life. During that time she met Gerald Martel, and had five boys. She had also moved and lived in the Welland and Port Colbourne area where she had met Brian Roy SR. and his boys.
After a few years of living in the area and returning to Timmins, Dora and Brian decided to make the move to Alberta where they lived and worked in Fort Saskatchewan for the ambulance service started by Al Carter. Following some years of working as employees, they decided the startup Superior Ambulance Service.
After the conclusion of the ambulance service, Dora continues to live in the area, but for a short time she moved to Luseland, Saskatchewan, eventually returning to the Edmonton area to live out the remainder of her life. This time was spent reconnecting with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would also take the occasional trip to B.C. to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that lived on the West Coast, and to enjoy the ocean.
Dora is survived by her 5 boys, Donald, Michael (Kathy), Wayne (Annie), Robert, Roger, as well as her stepson Brian Jr; her brother, Joey; her 13 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, William and Beatrice Fuller; her siblings and their spouses, Ross (Carole), Mervin (Audrey), Gerald, Margaret, and her twin brother Donnie (Jane).
Dora always enjoyed going out for coffee with her boys or friends, and always managed to wrangle a “quick” shopping trip for groceries or a trip to Walmart or Sears. She always made sure to get each boys favourite pop for her fridge. Dora’s favourite pop was Coca-Cola, no ice.
A Celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to ask that any donations be made to the charity of your choice in her name.
