Margaret Ellen Craig

CRAIG, Margaret Ellen. 1920 – 2011. Margaret, beloved wife of the late Robert Craig, both formerly of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, AB, on January 12, 2011. Margaret is survived by her son, Roger (Linda) Craig; two daughters, Sheila (Jim) Van Camp, and Moira (Todd) Reitsma; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Craig of 63 years, and son, Richard Craig. Margaret was born in Kent, England, to Albert and Ellen Walker, met a young Canadian soldier who she married in 1943 amidst WWII. She later travelled to Canada to join her husband and begin raising a family. Margaret was very active in the community: Past President: 1971-72, 1984-85, 1991-92, and Lifetime Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Br #27; as well as Past-President for the Fort Sask. Figure Skating Club.

Memorial Services to be held: January 19th, 2011, 2:00 pm, Riverview Funeral Chapel, 11090 – 86th Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan, AB, with officiating by Reverend David Lehmann and honourable salute by the Ladies Auxiliary Honour Guard. Margaret will join her husband in the Legion Field of Honour. Share memories and refreshments with family and friends at 3:30 pm, Royal Canadian Legion, Br #27, 9964 – 93rd Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret’s family requests donations to: Edmonton SPCA or Canadian Cancer Society.
