George "Tex" Alan Jensen of Van Buren, Arkansas passed away March 25, 2023 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Tex was born August 4, 1955 in Glasgow, Montana to George & Etta Jensen. He was a graduate of Southside High School, class of 1973. He owned a construction company, was an avid motorcyclist, and a NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, LeAnn Jensen of Van Buren, AR, a daughter Natalie and her husband Matt McCormick of Clarksville, AR with grandchildren Dylan O'Hara, Sarah Nemeth and Gavin O'Hara, a son Joe Harrison and his wife Amy of Nashville, TN with grandchildren Max and Abby, a brother Robert Jensen, and niece Rebecca Jensen. He was a great-grandfather to Scarlet, Mary & Dylan O'Hara.
Tex, as most knew him by, seemed to always have a hammer in one hand and a drumstick in the other hand throughout his life. If his hands were empty, then they were on the handlebars of his motorcycle. Growing up in the family business, Midwest Lumber, he began his career encapsulated in saw dust and learning the phrase, "Measure twice and cut once." His commercial and residential building accomplishments can be seen all over Fort Smith and surrounding states. He was also a member of the Black Widows Motorcycle Club and organized numerous toy runs for local charities. His childhood was as adventurous as any boy could have. His bedroom was filled with the sounds of his drum set that would radiate throughout the house. Tex was a fan of live music and could also be seen preparing and behind the scenes of the Peacemaker Music Festival in Fort Smith. His smile and bellowing laugh were contagious to those around him. His personality allowed him to meet many people and grow long lasting friendships over the years. Tex and LeAnn built a life for themselves that provided lasting memories among family and friends. Their home was filled with many family gatherings and it echoed with kids and grandchildren playing and laughing in the countryside. The sounds of 4-wheelers, tractors, dogs, horses and goats can always be heard when you visited him. One may also hear the rumbling sound of his motorcycle in his garage as he would tinker with it. Tex had many accomplishments over the years but those who loved him, know that we should feel accomplished in life for having such an amazing man in ours.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Wesley United Methodist Church, with burial to follow at Dora Cemetery.
