Audrey Mae Edwards, 100, of Fort Smith, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024. She was born on August 1, 1924 in Clarksville, AR to the late Homer Lee O’Neal and Carrie Peters O’Neal. Audrey was retired from Mr. Rob’s, where she worked as a tailor. She was a member of Rye Hill Baptist Church. Audrey was a loving and caring mother, she loved with all her heart and held her family close. She always wanted the best for everybody and her arms were always open for her grandkids. In addition to her parents, Audrey is preceded in death by her first and second husbands, F.M. Gushing and Sonnie Edwards; special friend, Jimmy Pickle; a sister, Hazel Holt and five brothers, Troy, Boyd, Bill, Norman and Gorman O’Neal.
She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Sugg (Jack); two sons, Danny Gushing (Sharon) of Fort Smith and Fred Gushing (Jan) of Barling, AR; six grandchildren, Brian Sanders, Heather Skurdahl, Chase Gushing, Sean Gushing, Pat Gushing and Tim Gushing. She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Graveside service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
