Audria Bogan Grant, 81 of Ft. Smith passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014. She was born August 5, 1933 in Washington, AR to the late Frank and Minnie Yarbrough. She was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church. Mrs. Grant graduated from Hendrix College then received her Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. She was a math teacher at both Darby and Kimmons Junior high schools. She received numerous awards throughout her teaching career, beginning in 1967 with the “Outstanding Young Educator” Award, presented to her by the Ft. Smith, Jaycees. Mrs. Grant was the recipient of the “Outstanding Service to Public Education” award in 1989 for 33 years of Service presented to her by then Governor Bill Clinton. In the same year she was awarded the “Golden Apple Award” by the Ft. Smith Classroom Teachers Association. In 1972 she opened the “Second Time Around Thrift Shop”. She was a supporter of the University of Arkansas Fort Smith Basketball. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William Turner Grant, Sr. and her son William Turner Grant, Jr.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial at Oak Cemetery. The family will greet guests 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral Home.
Mrs. Grant is survived by her daughter; Lisa Bogan Horne of Ft. Smith, two sons; Mitch Bogan and his wife Debbie of Mountainburg, and John Richard Grant and his wife Fonda of Ft. Smith, as well as four grandchildren, Courtney Bogan of Conway, Nik Grant of Provo, UT, Elyse Grant of Fayetteville, and Hunter Horne of Ft. Smith.
Pallbearers will be Larry Schiffner, Bill Bardrick, LeRoy Adams, Jim Moody, Bruce Vick, Rick Beauchamp, and Jim Stout.
