Clyde Houston Newton

Clyde Houston Newton, 74 of Pocola, OK passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 in Fort Smith. He was born January 1, 1940 in Peno, OK to the late Matthew “Doc” and Goldie Newton. He was a member of Spradling Baptist Church. He was a former Fort Smith Police Department Patrolman from 1967 to 1971 and a retired truck driver. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his in-laws Richard and Sybil Harris.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Fentress Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary.

Mr. Newton is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce of the home, his daughter Teresa Perkins and her husband Billy of Pocola, OK, his grandson Brandon Perkins and his wife Brittney of Arkoma, OK and his great granddaughter, “Babycakes” Zoey Perkins of Arkoma and his step-great grandson Dylan Goff of Arkoma.

Pallbearers will be Billy and Brandon Perkins, Bransen Hughart, Charlie Henderson, Sr. and Charlie Henderson, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Newton and Mike Dewitt.

Viewing will be 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
