

Robert Courtney Sherrod, age 74 of Fort Smith passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, May 17, 2016. He was born May 9, 1942 in Shreveport, LA to the late Lorraine Helen Starr and William Johnce Sherrod. Courtney worked many years as a tool and die maker for several different companies including Coca Cola and Glover Machine Shop. He enjoyed many years working in his greenhouse, tinkering in his shop, searching for antiques, traveling, reading, having fun with friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Starr Lorraine Larson of Bossier City, LA and Larry Evan Sherrod, of Houston, TX.
Courtney is survived by his wife Marion Hanna Sherrod, 2 children Cindy Lorraine Riddle of Fort Smith and Christopher Courtney Sherrod of Oklahoma City, 2 step-sons Christopher Lee Fields of Bentonville and Scott Alan Fields of Fort Smith, 2 nephews and one niece of the Shreveport area, and 7 grandchildren. Courtney is also survived by several young men that he mentored – Jeff Townsley, Billy Maestas, Chuck Foster, Glen Cain and Dennis Hale.
Memorial service will be held at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Private burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will visit with friends following the Memorial Service.
