Delmas Odell Roberts, 87, of Roland, passed away March 19, 2018 in Fort Smith. He was born August 19, 1930 in Chickamauga, GA to Arthur Hilton and Bess Czarnikow Roberts. Delmas was a graduate of a rural Oklahoma one room school during the great depression and became a successful business man, rancher and farmer in Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas, a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and former Mayor of Roland, OK. He was a part of business in the Fort Smith area for more than sixty years and a faithful Monday morning supporter of the Fort Smith Stock Yards. He was a true deal maker.
He is survived by one daughter, Shelly and husband Joel Hammond of Southlake, TX; two sons, Tommy and wife Judy Roberts of Roland, OK., and Dr. Gregory and wife Susan Roberts of Fort Smith; two sisters, Doris Fletcher of Muldrow, and Clarice and husband Bill Chisum of Muldrow; two brothers, Roy and wife Betty Roberts of Roland, and Earl and wife Freda Roberts of Roland; five grandchildren, Christen Roberts, Joshua and wife Kendra Roberts, Tonda Roberts, Willie Hammond, Tommy Roberts, II, and wife Amy; and six great grandchildren, Tommy Roberts, III, Seth Roberts Youngblood, Graceanne Roberts, Isaiah Carson Roberts, and Tyler and Luke Lewis.
Delmas was preceded in death by his bride of fifty-nine years, Ruby Carson Roberts; his parents; one sister, Betty Hunter; and three brothers, Ralph Roberts, Melvin Roberts and Kenny Roberts.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith with burial to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Roberts, Tommy Roberts, II, Tommy Roberts, III., Willie Hammond, Seth Roberts Youngblood and Joel Hammond.
The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM.
