Dorothy Jeanette Marshall was born in Hillsboro, Texas on October 28, 1930. She passed from this life into ages of the Christ on November 17, 2015. She was at home with her husband, Rev. Howard Marshall.
Jeanette and Howard were married on August 30, 1949 in the Central Christian Church in Hillsboro, Texas. Together they served six churches in 42 years of active ministry. During that time they also raised five sons, Allen, Jerry, Jim, Dan and Ross.
Jeanette was a gentile, loving, and compassionate woman who participated wholeheartedly in the lives of her children and the congregations to which she and Howard belonged. She was always a member of the choir and could, even in her declining years, sing familiar church hymns like the angel she was. She taught Sunday School, held positions of leadership and enjoyed working in the kitchen, wherever that kitchen might have been. She was always a kind and thoughtful friend to everyone.
She is survived by Howard, her sons, daughters-in-law Marion Marshall and Zena Marshall, 11 grandchildren, David, Mitt, Jeremy, Matt, Jesse, Alex, Payton, Jackson, Brooks, Katy and Grace; five great-grandchildren, Cooper, Conner, Seth, Maddox and Charlotte, who was the first girl born into the family in 82 years.
The family will greet visitors at Allen & Marion’s home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 4912 Oak Hollow Lane in Fort Smith. Jeanette’s memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 3501 Rogers Avenue on Saturday, Nov. 21. The family will greet guests following the service. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Howard & Jeanette Marshall s Ministerial Education Fund Brite Divinity School, TCU, Box 298130, Fort Worth, TX 76129.
