

Elizabeth “Betty” Cleavenger, 76 of Fort Smith, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 12, 2011 in Fort Smith surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 20, 1934 in Salem, West Virginia to the late Charles Thomas and Rosalie Weekly Haskins.
She was a member of Central E.H.C. Club, United Methodist Women, and attended Faith United Methodist Church. She loved her family dearly and loved decorating the house for all the holidays for everyone to enjoy. She spent much of her time doing for others. She made bonnets for preemie babies for St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, crib sheets and bibs for Kid’s First, heart-shaped pillows, lap blankets, hand rolls and catheter bags for Methodist Nursing Home, dolls for Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and dogs for Sparks Regional Medical Center. She was so proud of the numerous ribbons she received for her entries to the Ark-Oklahoma County Fair Home Economics Division.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Rosalie Haskins, brothers George, Kenneth and John Haskins.
She is survived by her husband Jack Sr. of 57 years and 9 months; four sons Jack Jr. (Linda) of Barling, David of Fort Smith, Gary (Sherry) of Greenwood, Donald of Elkins and two daughters Kimberly (Fred) Snipes of Van Buren and Debra (Dale) Reynolds of Rogers, Sister-in-law Linda Haskins of Wolf Summit, West Virginia and one brother Homer Junior (Diane) Haskins of Salem, West Virginia; nine grandchildren: Joe Reynolds, Christopher (Melody) Reynolds, Clinton Snipes, Kevin (Charity) Reynolds, Scott Snipes, Sarah Reynolds, Jordyn Cleavenger, Kylie Cleavenger and Ashton Cleavenger; five great grandchildren: Harmony Reynolds, Owen Reynolds, Kayden Reynolds, Addeli Reynolds, and Eadyn Reynolds.
The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Faith United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Fred Snipes, Dale Reynolds, Joe Reynolds, Christopher Reynolds, Clinton Snipes, Scott Snipes, Kevin Reynolds, and Ashton Cleavenger. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Cleavenger, Donnie Cleavenger, Jack Jr. Cleavenger, Gary Reynolds, Bryan Cleavenger, and the Faith United Methodist Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group.

The family extends its deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Edward Mercy Medical Center and to Dr. Andre Nolewajka and personal care for Betty as well as the entire family during her final days.
