Elizabeth Morris Roof

Elizabeth Morris Roof, was born on November 15, 1947 in Lubbock, Texas. She passed away on December 18, 2021 in Albuquerque, NM, the youngest of two children to James and Velma Morris. As a young girl, Elizabeth served as a Girl Scout and continued to enjoy service to others throughout her life. In 1968 after attending two years of college, Elizabeth married Ronald Roof and together they had two sons, Morey and Martin.

With Ron by her side, Elizabeth had many adventures, having lived in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico, she also traveled throughout the United States and to Canada, Mexico, and Bermuda. She loved being with her family and celebrating the joys in life.

Elizabeth worked for Colorado National Bank in Denver, CO for several years before moving on to operate her own childcare business while raising her own beloved sons. In 1987, Elizabeth accepted work at Hoffmantown Baptist Church where she served for eighteen years before her final career move to Sandia National Laboratory.

Elizabeth was known for her devout faith and love for singing. She enjoyed sharing personal testimonies of God’s love and was often found studying scripture.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ronald Roof. Survivors include her sons, Morey (Tammy) and Martin (Elizabeth) Roof and three step-grandchildren: Jackson, Andrew and Benjamin.

Her service will be held at the Fort Smith National Cemetery Pavilion at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Public viewing will held the day prior to the service, from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
