Evelyn Coleman Hughes

Evelyn Coleman Hughes, 82, of Lavaca, passed away Sunday December 5, 2010. She was born August 1, 1928 in Hackett, AR to Oscar and Gracie Clark Coleman. She was a retired Nurses’ Aid and homemaker. She was a member of South Fort Smith Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Ishmael Hughes, her parents Oscar and Gracie Coleman and two Sisters Barbara Westbrook and Carolyn Ballard.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tony Buchanan officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

She is survived by her sister Lucille Evans of Lavaca, AR and her companion Ray Rankin of Cecil, AR.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews as follows Joe and Lori Ballard of Guymon, OK, Bill and Teresa Westbrook of Muldrow, OK, Danny and Paula McDonald of Roland, OK, Randy and Darlene Tedder of Fort Smith, AR, Eldon and Lind Schollenberger of Duncan, OK, Mitch and Leann Beckley of Guymon, OK and Dale and Jana Jetton of Lavaca, AR. She was Aunt DD to all of us.

Pallbearers will be Bill Westbrook, Joe Ballard, Jr., Dale Jetton, Mitch Beckley, Jordan Westbrook and Michael Hild. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Ballard, Sr., Ray Rankin and Danny Ray McDonald.

The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
